In 2108, humanity created the spike drive, a faster-than-light (FTL) means of travel that spiked into the newly-discovered metadimensional space to leap great distances. Over time, this space changed some of its travelers to gain special psychic abilities that were later harnessed to open even deeper exploration of space and even more amazing technologies.

In 2665, after expanding deep into far reaches of the universe, a mysterious wave of metadimensional energy later known as “the Scream” ripped across known space in a matter of seconds, killing or driving mad all those with metadimensional abilities. Humanity, suddenly without its psychic-dependent technologies and stranded in its various pockets across the stars, struggles for control and survival in the new era.

The year is now 3200. Psychic abilities have primitively returned, yet the centuries of knowledge that honed such skills are lost to time. Tentative trade and alliances dot the segmented sectors and systems. In this universe, you forge your path.

You have been offered a lucrative deal to help crew a ship traveling to another system some distance away in the sector, Galatea Sigma. The pay is to be coveted, included a small advance payment, and the metadimensional travel opportunity itself would normally require a small fortune. This could be a chance for a big haul or simply a fresh start, but the job is secretive and requires a tight silence to participate.
